Updated: Jan 30

Hi friends - hope all good :)

Extremely happy to say that next in the series with a stunning interpretation of quiet details, is the electronic music titan, James Clements, here as ASC.

Out now on digital and limited CD with long-form edition, six panel digipack and fine art print. Digital half price until 7th February.

Listening Party tomorrow Thursday 30th Jan 19:00 UK time - hope you can join us!

Active since the late nineties, James has repeatedly shown himself to be one of the most creative and hardworking artists around - with a huge body of work covering multiple genres (from ultra-diverse jungle/drum and bass, to techno, to atmospherics, ambient and far more besides), film scoring and more - releasing on numerous leading labels.

Plus establishing his own seminal labels including Covert Operations Recordings, Auxiliary and others - he’s an industry veteran who’s stayed completely true to his vision, making no compromises and now universally respected as an artist and focal point for the community.

Tales of Introspection is ASC at his most ethereally emotive - an incredible exploration of his creativity we both agree feels like a major milestone in his work.

Always known for the highest level of production skills, this album is a heart-felt expression of an artist in a perfect state of flow - the ability to create a pure representation of their innermost thoughts in impeccable musical form.

Vast soundscapes invoke the sense of infinite space, out of which emerge mesmeric motifs and meticulously crafted harmonies - the music envelopes you completely in dreamlike bliss.

Finely honed electronics mix with electro-acoustic and vocal textures, with a dynamic arc that takes you from quiet reflection to full emotional release and back again - incredibly beautiful and something only James could have made.

As James says:

belayed by strands

twine of the psyche between nights and imaginary forces

splinters of light

hope breaks the symmetry catharsis in reach

the cycle repeats

Huge thanks to him, a truly wonderful addition to the series.

The artwork was made as always influenced by the music and idea behind the album - originating from a photo from James which was then captured with analogue photography and processed here at quiet details studios.

As usual, the album is presented on the physical edition, a custom six-panel digipack with a separate fine art print too.

The CD also has a special long-form continuous mix of the album, representing the music in its purest form.

Also out is the second run of qd23 James Murray - Weeds. A gorgeous album, both sonically and conceptually, so glad to make it available again.

Huge thanks also to everyone that supported the first in my new fields we found series - resolve / relate - special note to all the subscribers too, thanks so much for the confidence in what I do, subscription exclusives starting next month :)

The listening party was amazing given the short notice and the fact I haven’t released any new music for a while - lots more to come, looking forward to sharing it with you!

Much love to PITP for the lovely comment.

Also, new ‘For LA Vol. 2’ comp curated by Hollie Kenniff out this week.

“Out today, “For LA Vol. 2”, features 29 tracks of previously unreleased material from composers in the ambient, electronic, and modern classical communities. All proceeds from this release will support “We Are Moving The Needle” and “GiveDirectly”, empowering frontline organizations dedicated to relief and recovery for affected families.”

Vol.2 includes two previously unreleased recordings by Ryuichi Sakamoto (!!).

Including an exclusive track from me as fields we found, and also quiet details artists The Lifted Index, Brendon Moeller and anthéne - huge respect to Hollie for pulling this together and the label Nettwerk for its backing.

Neil Mason with the lovely coverage of the first in the series, and very kind words in general:

A little over 20 minutes, it starts with a deep rumble of a tone and builds from there, oscillating gently to start with, it comes to life slowly, morphing one way and then the next while as it grows fresh shoots as the sound grows. A clever person than me (hello Zack PITP) described it at last night’s Bandcamp listening party as an “oscillating low-frequency hymnal”. With each listen, your ears focus on different aspects. I’ve had it on headphones too, where it’s a different experience again. I especially love hearing the room, the space. You can hear that electrical hum – either that or my desk monitors are shot – and there’s some delightful crackles in places too. “It’s not possible to put this fully into words,” explains Alex of the project, perhaps understandably, “so just take the music as you find it, and interpret it in your own way. It’s an expression of my reality today, and will undoubtedly grow as things move on.” Very much look forward to hearing how these pieces evolve each month. Love projects like this. All power to Alex and his bid for world dom.

Shawn Reynaldo including the release and also very generous in his comments.

Urban Mutant including an excerpt from the release on his latest mix here
