Huge thanks for all the support so far - been amazing seeing all the love for it, on here, Bandcamp and Bluesky especially.
Our community has been growing on Bandcamp in the most amazing way over the past couple of years and Bluesky really is turning into a great platform to chat with many of you too - if you’re on either and we’ve not connected, you can find qd here quietdetails.bsky.social - check our linktr.ee/quietdetails too for all our other social links and more.
So talking of connecting, today we’re having a listening party for this mesmeric album - you know I love getting the chance to hang-out with you all, so appreciative to everyone that comes along.
Joseph, Luke and I will be there so please feel free to join us if you’re around.
All welcome x
Find the RSVP link on the album page here - see you there :)

Luke will be well known to followers of qd, being the man behind qd03 Salt Water Motifs, and also to anyone interested in electronic music in recent times. A tireless explorer, from intricate and deeply melodic experiments on labels such as Balmat, Frequency Domain, Miracle Pond and more, to heavy dance-floor cuts as Luke’s Anger (a mainstay in the boxes of leading DJs) and plenty of other aliases too.
While less known in electronic circles, Joseph Myoushin Sanger, is equally talented. Having played Clavinet and Rhodes in numerous bands in the 90s and early 00s, as well as experimenting with his own instrument designs and tuning systems, he moved to Japan in 2006, where he took up the shakuhachi. He has been studying the “Honkyoku” (traditional/classical solo pieces associated with meditation and Zen Buddhism) with a grand master in Hiroshima for over twelve years, reached the level of master himself, and is fascinated by exploring the sonic possibilities which this seemingly simple instrument offers.
With Joseph on standard and long shakuhachi, and Luke on a trinity of Ciat-Lonbarde instruments (esoteric and highly creative wooden electronic instruments) and other effects, together they’ve made an album of immense depth and hypnotic beauty.
The combination of these two superficially disparate worlds shows, in the hands of such creative minds, the whole becomes infinitely more than the sum of its parts.
The soft triangle waves emanating from Luke’s Sidrax Organ meld perfectly with Joseph’s bamboo flute, intertwining in their spellbinding, always evolving microtonal themes.
Luke’s instruments also allow the live processing of the shakuhachi, its tones being exquisitely suited to being reimagined electronically - down-sampled delays and loops move around the panorama while fluctuating sonic wonders come and go like whispers. These textures fill the spectrum creating something that is at once organic and synthetic, at all times fundamentally human and full of fraternal emotion.
As they say:
Bamboo and primitive electronics
Depict a post-technological world
Roots entwine with broken machines
Huge thanks to Joseph and Luke, a stunning addition to the series.
The artwork was made as always influenced by the music and idea behind the album - originating from a photo from Joseph and Luke which was then captured with analogue photography and processed here at quiet details studios.
The CD also has a special long-form continuous mix of the album, representing the music in its purest form - if you buy one message me for a download of this unique version of the album.

Also out is the second run of the beautiful qd21 Only Now from ambient legend James Bernard. A hugely popular release and rightly so, very happy to make the physical available again.
