Coming soon - qd33 Ian Hawgood - well, here we are

Hi friends - hope all good :)

So this one’s very special - next week we have an album of stunning beauty and deep meaning from the legend and wonderful human that is Ian Hawgood with well, here we are

Out next Wednesday 23rd April, digital and CD editions. As always the physical edition comes with the unique long-form version of the album and bespoke six panel digi-pack, with separate artwork and glass-mastered CD. Listening party Thursday 24th April at 19:00 UK time.

It’s a huge honour to share this one with you all - Ian’s a massive inspiration to so many people: on a musical level with his peerless back-catalogue of solo and collaborative releases; to curation on his seminal label Home Normal; to his openness about his personal life and struggles; to him being one of the most genuine people you’ll ever have the good fortune to meet.

I’ve known Ian since I began releasing music as fields we found - it’s no exaggeration to say that without his support and friendship I’d be in a very different place right now - his kindness, honesty and encouragement (releasing on Home Normal was a dream come true) have been a guiding light, and I’m eternally grateful to him.

So this album means a lot. Even more so considering the significance behind it. I’ll share everything next week, here’s an excerpt of Ian’s words about the album:

This is about extreme acceptance and not allowing anyone else to define you, from whatever period of your life. So many voices stay with us from any age and can have a deeply negative impact, shattering the self. Yet the good and the bad exist and that is just that. The bad needn’t negate the good. It all just exists.

It may be his most personal album yet - beautiful electro-acoustic melodic textures, field recordings and so much more - with contributions from Sam Liu, Craig Tattersall, Brad Deschamps and me (fields we found) - it’s beyond incredible.

For now, check out some of Ian’s previous music - impossible to choose favourites so here are a few recent ones - these three are amazing, and also full of meaning and thoughtfulness, words which can be used to describe everything Ian does.

and of course his previous outings on quiet details, first with Craig Tattersall

then with James Murray

Also coming is the second run of the wildly psychedelic qd27 Sanger and Sanger - Exotopia

Love this album, Luke and Joseph took the concept and made it something totally unique - happy to make it available on CD again!
