Hey friends - hope all good :)
Big thanks again for the all the support for Brendon’s album - so many lovely comments and messages too, we really appreciate it!
Last day of half-price digital and some CDs left, including the special long-form edition (plus download), bespoke six-panel digipack and separate art print.
Now the second part of our Q&A - enjoy!
Please can you give us an overview of your studio and favourite instruments?
My studio is comprised of a combination of hardware and software. Ableton is my DAW of choice and I use a MOTU 16A for audio. I use Focal CMS-65’s for monitoring.
My favorite hardware instruments are my Lorre-mill Double Knots V1 and V3 and my Prophet 5.
My favorite software instruments are U_he Diva and Zebra 2 and DeltaVAudio Spacecraft.
My favorite hardware effects are my Finegear Dust Collector and my Neon Egg Planetarium 2.
My favorite digital effects are Valhalla Vintageverb and Zynaptiq Orange Vocoder.
Please can you gives a quick breakdown of how you made each track?
Each track was started by going through my field recordings and pulling the sounds that I felt were specific to a mood, time of day or feeling I was after for that particular track. Once I had the field recordings set up on Ableton I would start messing around with drones/chords that I felt convey the vibe I’m going for.
Then I would figure out bass. Bass is probably where most of the movement and groove in the tracks are determined. Boy do I love bass :)
The next step for each track was to figure put rhythmic and percussive elements. This was particularly fun since all the field recording stuff is the perfect backdrop to coming up with a rhythm track.
The next step in the process was to make sure the atmospheric elements felt good and that there was nothing jarring or distracting. This step also leads to the final arrangement.
Huge thanks again to Brendon - his work, especially this album, means a great deal to me and I’m so pleased we could do this together.

Much love and have a good weekend!
More soon :)
