Last day of half-price today and also The California Wildfire Relief Fundraiser over at Bandcamp - great cause and ideal day to pick up anything you’ve been thinking about from us or anyone else x

Part Two of the ASC Q&A now - enjoy!

Please can you give us an overview of your studio and favourite instruments?

There's far too much gear to list, to be honest. I really need to start culling some of it, as my studio is very crowded and resembling a bit of a museum for the past few years now. I've become a bit of a hoarder with my synths, and I make a lot of sentimental attachments to pieces of kit that were either bucket list items that I always wanted, or they were hugely important in making pieces of music that are special to me. I have a hard time letting them go! I have a lot of favourites, and it changes from time to time, but if my studio was on fire and I could only save one, it would probably be my Korg PolySix. Or perhaps the Roland JD-800... maybe I'll put one under each arm.

Please can you gives a quick breakdown of how you made each track?

I honestly couldn't tell you, and this for me is when I know I've made something that I personally think is amazing. I write music primarily to satisfy myself and my creative urges, and I'm my own biggest fan admittedly. If I'm excited about my own music, then I know I'm on to a winner. It's all about achieving that flow state mode of consciousness. When the hours just roll by, and you're so engrossed in the process of writing, you're not even thinking about it. It's like you're on autopilot and you're just a conduit for translating what's inside to capturing it on the computer. Strangely enough, I find this mainly happens when I'm writing ambient music. It's the dream-like quality of this style of music that puts me into that hypnogogic trance, which blurs the lines between creation and finished article.

Big thanks to James!

Very much looking forward to sharing the new resolve / relate 02 with you - this series completely represents my musical thinking right now, as all the tracks are made in the same month as the release.

So it’s direct from me to you, music from and for the present moment.

Long-form pieces for close listening.

02 is the first with the subscriber exclusive stasis dub - out Wednesday 12th Feb with Listening Party 13th 19:00 UK time - hope you can join me.
